In the Greek tale Jason and the Argonauts,they are on an adventure to find the golden fleece they go through lots of obstacles and conflict in other to get what Jason truely desires most, the fleece and his rightful seat on his throne.
There is geographical proof that these places where Jason passed were real.
- Jason was taken from his parents, and was brought up on Mount Pelion, which is a real mountain
- The Story happened during the Trojan War
- They found the palace of Jason and also found pictures.
- The quest was in Lemnos which is a real city
- They found the cliff where the women pushed the men
- The Clashing Rocks exists
- There are cave drawings of Jason
- The land of the Golden Fleece is in Georgia
- The Oak tree he used for the Argo is real
- In the story it says they have to go to the end of the world, there was a place where the currents were weird they could have thoght that was where it was because the currents were awkward.
- There are drawings of all the people who particapated in the journey.
Most heroes fit the cycle of the hero which is made by Joseph Campbell I think the tale of Jason and the Argonauts fits perfectly into the cycle.
Birth: Jason is the son of the rightful king of Iolcus his wicked uncle hides the father in prison. Jason's Mother and father sent him to Mount Pelion.He lived with chiron who taught him about plants, hunting and art. If Pelias knew that Jason was alive he would have killed him immediately.
Call to Adventure : Jason was determied to go back to his home and retrieve the throne that rightfully belongs to him. When he went to confront the king, he set jason to the impossible, claim the Golden fleece in order to have the throne.
Elixir: Jason's elixir was the golden fleece because that was his aim and that was what he wanted to achieve and that's why most of the titles were named Jason and the Golden Fleece that's what they remembered him by.
Helpers/Amulet: Hera was the supernatural helper she helped them in so many ways for example she made Madea fall in love with Jason so that she can help him win the obstacles King Aeetes, her father has set up for Jason.
Crossing the Thresshold: In order for them to get to King Aeetes they had to fight mighty currents and also go through obstacles like the Clashing rocks and Sirens.
Test : Jason went through many obstacles for examape the fire breathing bulls and the dragon guarding the golden fleece.The test proves that Jason is very determined and is willing to do anything to get his throne back.
Climax/Final Battle: It happened when he had to fight the dragon and also runaway from the King Aeetes they thought of quick and smart manuevers to escape
Return: They return safely with the fleece and are prepared to take back the throne from the wreched king.
